A Lovely YLI Reunion

After a month and a half of virtual programming due to ICE presence in the Twin Cities, we finally reunited in-person at Springboard for the Arts for a Cultural Session to talk about the most apt topic we could think of: the power of love.

We began our meeting with a Speak-Out, a YLI tradition centered around expressing the joys and pains we have experienced as members of various identity groups. This was an opportunity for emotional expression and active listening: we were able to hear how we could better support one another, and how people can be affected by the words we say.

As preparation for our 2026 participant zine, we did a gallery walk: our gallery consisted of images and quotes from authors, movies, and real-life events related to the power of love in both interpersonal and political contexts. Participants then had the opportunity to record their reactions to these works on post-it notes: continue scrolling to see a recreation of our gallery of love!

In both our upcoming retreat and our participant zine, we will continue to delve deeper into the revolutionary potential of love. Stay tuned!
